Every Parent wants their kids to be able to leave school and either get a job or go into further education, at the very least a student should have some plan for their future. Our economy needs motivated and skilled young adults entering the work force. Right?
Is the education system supporting that goal in any form of coordinated approach?
Sadly I'm still seeing disjointed career planing effort across the education curriculum. Some schools have systems in place but overall its just not good enough. We are denying a generation of students the opportunity to express their gifts and talents. Its mostly left up to "hope" they find their career and life they like. No one is taking this seriously and its costing economies socially and economically.
Why are we denying the GenNext economic dividend?
GenNexter's are an amazing generation. Every day I work with them they never cease to amaze me. They see the world in a completely different way to other generations. Other generations have been programed to climb the ladder, waiting for their success later on in life. Not GenNext. They want it now and they want to use their success, gifts and talents for good social causes. They want the world to be a better place. The difference in generations is that GenNext are doing it NOW.
So instead of society waiting for the economy recovering to arrive...why not use the incredible resource right under our nose. GenNext.
